the journey.

as you grow older, fewer things really matter to you. learn to share joy because it comes back to you at the end of the day.

i like this story.

for those who do not listen to 933fm (i happened to listen to this radio station bcos i was switching in btw radio stations).

the DJ lin zhi was reading this story and i found it meaningful.

a famous psychologist sent out 50 letters to white collar workers and prisoners to ask them how their mothers have affected them during their childhood time. out of the 50 letters that he received, 2 letters left a deep impression on him.

the letter frm the prisoner says: once my mother bought us a a few apples. and i had my eye set on the reddest and biggest apple. however my younger brother beat me in snatching the apple that i eyed on. my mum furiously scolded him and said that he shld spare a thot for others instead and ask if there are anyone who wan the biggest apple first. i then told my mum that i wan the smallest apple so that my younger brother can have the biggest apple because i wanted to show my mum that i am a considerate child. my mum was pleased with my behaviour and rewarded me the biggest apple. this incident is indirectly the cause why i went to prison. cos i learnt how to lie.

the second letter from a successful businessman read: once my mother bought us a a few apples. and i had my eye set on the reddest and biggest apple. however my 2 other brothers wanted the same apple as well. to prevent any unnecessary arguments, my mother came up with a contest among the 3 of us and the winner would win the biggest apple. i won. hence i got the apple and at the same time, i learnt that i have to fight for what i wan. that is why i can be what i am today.

the moral of the story?

both of them got what they wan at the end of the day. but to suppress one desires and then lie to get what he wants, is indeed not the way to get things done. more often than not, one may not truly get what he wants. to go thru such lies and trouble, i would rather fight for what i wan and declare my goals openly. to express what one wan is an indication of clear-mindedness and also a reflection of courage. that is what i feel personally. like i mentioned before, i may not have the aptitude with languages, but i hope this story would set u thinking in some way or another. to fight for what u wan and get it at the end of the day is truly a satisfaction that nothing else can provide.
