as usual, sch has been pretty hectic this week. hmmm, but i recharged during the weekend with almost 20 over hrs of slp for the two weekends. perhaps i shld for a body massage soon. shall go to xinyi's ex-colleague who charges abt $40+ for 2 hrs full length of massage! :)
yesterday, i went to SIA, JAL and SilkAir webby to check out for the vacancies for cabin crew. nah, not opened yet. but well, i shall ask people to look ard for when im approaching year 3.
i prefer meaningful conversations more than anything. like wat i always say to my fren: though we only chat a few times in a year, it felt like i chatted with u yesterday only. ahhh, this is called meaningful conversation.
previously, i was really mad with my fren. but we managed to clear the air. we both acknowledged that we both have our own set of problems, responsibilites, burdens and commitments. these forces drive us apart. but i guess as long as we keep each other in our hearts, things will be fine eventually.
there is something tt i really wanna say too. one of my aims in life is to help as many old folks as possible. i personally think tt they are a very vulnerable group of people. as compared to orphans, they are relatively phsically handicapped. (if we were to exclude phsyically handicapped people) i signed up for a volunteer programme this june. on tt day itself, i cldnt make it. i was at the same old folk home where the grp would be helping out. i was there because my fren's grandma needed someone to look after otherwise she would think tt she was being abandoned. so i went there w my fren. then we met the grp of volunteers. they started singing christian songs and dancing in front of the old folks. they had musical instruments and some pom pom.
BUT have they really wondered if these are wat e old folks need? i dunno if i am rite, but i DONT think these are wat they need. staying in a nursing home itself is something tt is pretty unpleasant. they do not need rowdy people to dance and sing for 5 min and then leave for another room (though the intentions may be good). for such entertainment, tv prog will do the work. the worse thing is they are uneducated. how do u expect them to understand english christian songs?!
wat they really need is care, love n concern. most old folks who are staying there are sick or abandonded. they need someone to talk to more than dancing shadows. even if they dislike interacting with others, even a smile would mean so much more to them.
just imagine wat u would like pp to do when u are recuperating in an old folks home? needless to say, less noise and more sincere volunteers who are willing to take the time to talk to you, to care for you and to ensure that ur living environment is clean.
dear volunteers, sumtimes it is more than the sincerity, it is the things tt u do for them. we need to put them in our shoes before we can understand what they really need and wan. then one may ask: since u talk so much, why arent u doing anything? i admit im not doing anything at the moment, i have my constrains. but i did make attempts to volunteer my service at TYP old folks home. but they turned me down bcos they said tt one person cant do anything much. they wanted a grp. but where do i find a grp tt think e same way as i do?
