Rambles.
oh YAY! im home. im so tired. little notes to myself to rem my lil pe-xmas saturday before i ramble on.
went to themindcafe to play board games with LY. chalked up a bill of $40+ cos we stayed there for 3.5 hrs and had 2 set lunches.
played
- monopoly
- connect 4
- uno
- janga (duno if the spelling is rite)
- othello
- mastermind (my fav game but LY says she does not wanna work her brain so i only played one set)
oh well, does not matter. i had a fun-filled day. YAY YAY YAY!
then went to town for a walk. LY bought her xmas pressie for her nice collgeaue and we also bought trackpants. guess how much it cost? FREAKING $10 per piece. how can i not buy? so i bought one pair of black one and one white one. im too lazy to take photos now. shall take it tmr. *beam* i got a real deal.
dinner was at bugis. bah keh teh! i love cheap and delicious (aroy - delicious in thai) dinner. HATE those cafe food. they taste horrible. un-justified for the price.
oh ya, on my way to themindcafe, i saw someone tt i detest. i msged my fren to tell her tt i saw tt detestable someone.
"i saw her. i saw her because i saw someone extremely ugly and fat in the cab, so i took an extra look and i realised it is her."
SLAP ME, SOMEONE! haha. but i do this to pp tt i dislike. *stick out tongue*
im gg to cut my hair tmr! YAY! no more ugly, un-pretty, un-glam hair! only PRETTY me! :)
oh i did mention tt i was going to talk abt an old man tt i saw yesterday rite? actually, i so do not have the mood to type the oh-im-going-to-talk-abt-life-now kinda post. shall make it short. anyway i have to get up at 6am to jog tmr. im hardworking i know. dun have to announce to everyone rite? :)
on my way for facial @ redhill (if u guys are smart enuff, it is the old folks area), i saw this old man who was walking ard with ONE leg. u are rite, only one leg. mind you, some of us cant even balance with one leg, let alone the task of walking. he was walking along the pavement and then he had to proceed down the stairs. he did everything with one leg. his other leg was not there anymore because he was either struck with a disease and he had to amputate it away or he met with an accident. either way, it is not the main concern here.
i was deeply amazed by his determination to make sure he completed the entire path to reach his destination. it wasnt an easy feat for us, let alone him. imagine when u were young and u had to skip on one leg in order to complete some games that ur PE teacher told u to? did u rem any difficulities when u were trying to finish the race? i bet you did.
i was full of admiration for him, really. because he is a living example of determination. i asked myself what i would do if i were to lose a leg. tell me to die, really. i cant imagine myself losing one leg esp when im so active. i most prob will lose the courage to live. i may not literally die at the end of the day, but my morale and self confidence would be affected in a negative manner.
perhaps most of you will tell me "aiyar he passed that sadness stage oreadi". maybe that is true, but in the end, he is all ready to face the world. i saw him saying hi to his friends and walking tediously to his friends but not giving up at all. how long does one need to sink into depression and hopelessness before one will wake up and face the world bravely again?
most of us give up easily when we meet with an obstacle. 1. the minority of us will turn to remove the obstacle and move on w life. 2. some of us will give in to the evil devil of depression and get upset all the time. 3. some will complain that life is unfair because the higher authority did not arrange a better path for them and push the blame to someone or everyone except themselves. 4. some will grumble and sit there and wait for days to pass by, hoping that the obstacle would one day be removed somehow.
may i ask, which catergory do u belong to? i dare say i belong to number 1 catergory. of course, i aint an angel. i do have my weakness and i can safely say i belong to the number 1 catergory 80% of the time.
okay, then u might say im slapping my own mouth because i just said tt i would most prob jump frm a tall building just bcos i lost a leg (hypo qns above, rem?) i say that because tt is the first thing tt came to my mind. but given my character and the so-afraid-of-death-me, i would most prob try my very best to survive and try something out. never mind that if i cant go out anymore, i will try to look for a job that is near my place and wake up earlier to wheel my wheelchair there or to hop my way there. and i will buy my stuff online. ahh, now talk abt the advantages of the internet. :) and in order to prevent my relatives frm showing sympathy, i will get out of my depression quick. all for a simple reason, time wait for no man. i will show tt i am the strong joanna as ever.
but for now, i really appreciate my limbs w me rite now. i do not know for what reason he didnt fix an artificial leg or use a wheelchair. pride could be the main issue. but what i can see from him, is the glowing shine of determination.
life isnt a bed of roses. see an obstacle? get up and remove tt darn thing. getting angy/upset/pissed or thinking tt it is someone else fault again is pointless.
worrying/anger is just like a rocking chair, it gives u sth to do but it gets u nowhere.
