Back from Bangkok!
hey peepz! im back from bangkok. :(
i had such enjoyable time there and i had lotsa to say. i didnt take as much photos as i thot i would cos i was busy with shopping. now tt im back in singapore, so many things/responsibilities to resume. like my studies, online auctions etc. :(
flight frm singapore to bkk was delayed for dunno what reason and we reached bkk at ard 10pm. we didnt go anywhere except to settle the meal at the cafe below the hotel. check in was fast and all. our plan went on smoothly - ie we went to all the places we wanted to go (the only regret was that we didnt manage to try the dunkin (hope spelling is right) donuts) and tried all the food that we wanted.
flight from bkk to singapore was delayed for half an hr as well, but well for the price that we paid, it is still worthwhile afterall.
like i said, flight was okay, hotel was good (for the price we paid $33 per night). it was a 2 star hotel, but wow, it feels like 3-4 stars. not too bad! and food was sooooooooooooooo good. i was complaining to yellow that im so going to miss the 40cents omelette rice. (will blog abt it when im more free). shopping was good also! bargain and bargain and bargain. transport was cheap and convenient except for 1 cab driver who tried to cheat our money. luckily yellow was smart enuff. :) wat else... *drum fingers* i guess that is abt all. nothing much to complain though.
actually, im kinda sad that im back in singapore. i really really enjoyed myself alot in bkk. not entirely because of the cheap items that i can buy there, but rather, the simplicity of life there makes it attractive and appealing. really. i mean right, in singapore you order 1 bowl of noodles and they'll serve you in no more than 5 min time. over in bkk, there can be NOONE in the Q but ur order can take up to 10-15 min to be prepared because they are busy talking to one another or/and walking slowly to prepare the ingredient. most of you will most prob go like WAT?! WHY SO LONG? NOONE IN Q WHY STILL SO LONG! SO SLOW!
ahhh, see impatience. waiting for the food is actually a enjoyable process itself because u get to take time off to observe one's surrounding. at the same time, u can make use of the time to have little chats with ur loved ones beside you. not to fret if you are alone, because u can make use of the time to think of what u are going to do next or what you have to do next. i dunno abt u, but i quite like those little time off while waiting for my food. while i was Q-ing for my tom yam kun, yellow was buying our omelette rice, and yup, so i was alone. and i tell u, watching them cook is really interesting. their roadside stalls are the little carts, and their little carts are so damn self-sufficient! (they can be more self-sufficient than ur entire house.)
ya and that is what i like abt the life there. i dun feel any pressure early in the morning. i take my ow sweet time to wash up and then stroll down the streets to buy whatever i wanna eat. i know alot of you will most prob say AIYAR YOU ON HOLIDAY OF COURSE NO PRESSURE WHAT. that is true, BUT there is a tremendous difference when i went on holiday in hong kong. i dunno. but really, u feel the pace there. they are slow, but steady. most are friendly as well. (im talking abt the roadside stall holders, but not the shop owners of tourist attractions - they are fiercer there.) those stall holders can easily identify us as tourists and try their very best to communicate with us with their very limited knowledge of english. they dun luff at me when i try to speak my equally limited stock of thai language as well. oh, they will correct me as well and teach me new words! :)
perhaps migration to thailand would be a good idea if i grow old one day. i'll have a roadside stall as well. i'll think of what to sell in the future. but for now, the life in the more backward countries are really more apt for me. vietnam, thailand perhaps.
globalisation really kills. yellow and i think very much in the same manner. shall make her go learn thai and we can migrate over to thailand together. heh.
