Comparsion.

i promised my fren that i will do a comparsion btw my camera and yp's camera cos she is comtemplating which camera to buy. so here it goes. (a superficial comparsion w/o any technical details ah.) appearance/size:
1. relatively bigger and bulky due to the kinda batteries used.
2. appearance of cameras are more or less the same so i wont comment much.

memory storage:
memory pro duo stick - less commonly used as the sd/mmc card and only compatible with sony products therefore u cant use it anywhere else. but there has been suvery that shows that memory stick is able to save/secure data better as compared to sd/mmc cards. to put it in another way, less prone to data loss.

memory sticks are able to retrieve lost data. not too sure how they do it but ya, i saw it somewhere.

memory sticks are more expensive. somehow i think u pay for both quality and brand. sony wat, what do u expect?

batteries:
this is wat i love abt my camera the most!

alright it uses AA batteries (cant rem if it is AAA or AA) but ya, those kinda tt u can get from any provision shops, supermarkets, mama shops etc.

i was given 2 2300mah rechargable batteries with the set. and each charge is 6hrs long. but once fully charged, it can last u to abt 2 memory cards photo taking ie 512mb. abt 700 shots. YAY!

plus point is if the batt runs low, u can get it anywhere. no worries abt dead batteries. plus rechargable batteries are cheap. i got a 2500mah for only $7. :D

but the bad thing is camera that operate on such batteries are usually relatively bulkier. :(

brand:
sony lo!

good thing is sony has established its good reputation and it means that their products have lower rate of depreciation. so tt means my camera wont depreciate much when i wanna sell it. but i doubt so la. cos tt will mean tt i have to painstakingly choose a camera again.

appearance/size:
relatively smaller as it is using rechargable lithium batteries. sleek look. lighter.

memory storage:
sd/mmc cards - more common and cheaper. compatible with other products eg camera, data phone etc therefore u cantuse it anywhere else. but prone to data loss esp the brandless ones. while the branded ones are more ex.

batteries:
uses chargable lithium square batteries.

heard that the performance is not too bad. but i have personal experience (not pinpointing others' cameras) with a panasonic camera before. the battery life goes down w the number of charges. and at the end of the day, it gets so weak tt u can barely take more than 10 photos.

minus point is if the batt runs low, u cant get it anywhere. can get a spare battery for the model. but if u decide not to use the camera anymore, then the battery would be wasted. plus such batteries are more expensive cos they are tailored made for the camera.

but the gd thing is camera that operate on such batteries are usually thinner. :)

brand:
panasonic!

same thing as sony. :)

BUT ONE BAD THING IS OUR SCREENS ARE SUPER BIG. 2.5" AND IT EATS UP BATTERIES. if your camera has any addition function like anti shake etc, it will also consume more battery life.
